Complex Cases Case #375

Reflecting on the many complex cases I've encountered in Toledo, there is one patient's journey that profoundly stands for how intricate cases can turn into successful outcomes. She first sought my expertise to address ongoing challenges following two prior breast augmentations. Originating from the 90s, her first surgery performed by another surgeon used saline implants, submuscular placement via an areolar incision. She had a secondary augmentation using silicone gel implants in the 2000s to correct an implant failure – a high riding implant on the right side and malpositioning issues. This was her situation when she came into my office, and together, we embarked on a transformational journey designed to bring her comfort and restore her confidence.

Our chosen path involved a full capsulectomy to remove the old contracted implants and a secondary breast augmentation using 345cc Responsive Gel implants. During the procedure, I discovered that her right implant had indeed failed, reaffirming the importance of our intervention. Postoperative results were gratifying. Despite the complexities of the case, the patient emerged happy with her results, reflecting the hard-won victory of resolving enduring implant issues while producing aesthetically pleasing outcomes.
